Importance of a Copy Writer

A month ago I started my first day as a content writer for Dsquared Media. My job is to write content for the companies that hire Dsquared Media for web design. I was hired to write because of my experience.

I was previously a marketing writer for a television production company and a content writer for a beauty magazine. I am able to carry over my experience from my existing jobs on writing about a wide variety of topics, from roller coasters to Sports Authority to catheters, to this job also.

This month, the sorts of things I have been researching and writing on are garage doors, addiction recovery and treatment, and CPAP machines. A large portion of the month was dedicated to research. I have become a professional garage door troubleshooter and enthusiast of CPAP equipment. Some might think these things sound boring, some days they can be, but I never thought learning new things was boring.

A lot of people can write, but not everyone is a writer. My boss will agree on this statement on account of me proof reading a lot of his emails. Having a copy writer is important to a web design company for many different reasons. A company that has a steady stream of monthly content posting to their website will be more approachable to users.

A website that has blogs posted every week creates more traffic and reasons for people to click on their site. My main job is to write content for these websites. This creates a steady stream of content being posted on the websites while other companies without a copy writer might not have time from their other tasks of web designing. The more original content a website has the less chance of it being at the bottom of the barrel for search engines.

Copy writers are becoming more of an importance as things such as social media continue to boom on the World Wide Web. Some companies even have a Chief Content Writer which is in charge of the content departments. Social media has now become the vessel for content. People are posting about content such as blogs, newsletters and product descriptions. When more traffic is going towards content, then more content needs to be produced, this is why it is important to have a position that mainly works on creating content.

Upon graduation, with little money and a ton of risk, Danny took his project and put his degree into action by starting his own website design business. To start, Dsquared Media resided in a tiny 210 square foot office space located in Delray Beach, Florida that was barely room enough for employees to work. As time progressed, so did Danny’s knowledge on maintaining and running a successful business based on progressive marketing strategies. Currently, Dsquared Media employs 12 media professionals and is located in a space over 7 times larger than the tiny office in Delray. Danny attributes his success to a keen eye for intelligent design and an inspiration to live according to his passions.
